Just Peachy

Our Stake Welfare Farm is a peach orchard. When the harvest is over, they have a gleaning day. Since I worry my kids will grow up morally deficient if I don't expose them to farming (I may be slightly biased about the virtues of an agricultural lifestyle), I asked them if they wanted to go. They did, of course, so we headed to the orchard today after I picked them up from school.

It didn't take long for them to start complaining that their bags were getting heavy. Annie refused to put them in her bag if they were the slightest bit mushy. She tossed a lot of peaches, but we still managed to come home with enough for me not to know how we will use them before they go bad.

I already canned more than enough for next year, so we'll probably just make ourselves sick this week - peach cobbler, peach smoothies, peach pie, peach ice cream....
