Lately, she's been trying to follow her brother's lead and tell jokes. Don't you love it when kids tell jokes?
And there's really no punchline?
But they laugh so hard that you start laughing too?
Which leads them to believe that the joke was actually funny?
So they tell it again...and again...and again?
Anyway, that's what my kids do. It makes me smile.
The other night, we were all having a little ice cream (homemade and so yummy). Annie, in her sing-songy little voice was telling jokes.
Annie: What does a monster eat? (dramatic pause) I-Scream! (laughs hilariously at self)
Annie: What do you call a witch at the beach? (dramatic pause) Hamburger! (laughs hilariously)
Cole: It's a sand-witch, Annie.
Which made everyone laugh, especially Annie because not only was it a funny joke, she thought it was funny that she messed it up. She knows how to laugh at herself. That's a good skill to have.
Thanks for keeping us laughing, Petunia!
