Easter Overload

Annie is quite a fan of Easter egg hunts. W've had at least one every day for the past month.
But don't worry - she was still awfully excited for the big hunt at the park (don't let her face fool ya). I was excited to go watch the awesome parents racing my two-year-old so they could sneakily snag them for their own children. Also the dad running a screen play to block other children while his son gathered up the huge pile left at the end of the park. Truly awesome.

Annie only collected three eggs because she wouldn't pick up ant that weren't pink or purple. Cole pulled through with a hefty haul and was glad to share all his purples with her. Also glad to tell me periodically throughout the rest of the day how nice he had been to share with her.

The "Easter Bunny" found a pattern for cute stuffed bunnies in the new Martha Stewart Encyclopedia of Sewing and decided on Saturday to make a few for our children. Also decided to make homemade Easter candy to accompany the store-bought fare. "Easter Bunny" failed to remember that her children don't necessarily go to sleep early and that such endeavors should not be started at 10 PM when one has a three-week-old infant that wakes every hour or two. Not such a great night's sleep at the Griffiths' home on Saturday night, but Sunday morning's excitement and the fact that Cole and Annie both were clutching their new bunnies as they went to sleep last night made up for it. The deliciousness of the homemade peanut butter eggs helped make up for it as well.
Sunday brought visits to the grandparents and a couple more eggs hunts.

Please tell me it's not just our family that seems to be turning Easter into a mini-Christmas.
About 1.2 seconds after this picture, Annie took a mighty tumble. Before even hitting the ground, she proclaimed, "I'm o-tay," and then hopped right up and kept on looking for eggs. Loves those hunts.

Grandma Rose tried something new this year - an Easter play to teach the meaning of new life. Each kid got a pair of props. Uncle Barry got to participate due to Landon's refusal. And Floyd? He slept through the play. Apparently he's only up for the "fun" parts of Easter and not the more meaningful stuff:). That or else perhaps the Easter Bunny made him stay up and sew bunny faces onto the Griffiths' children's stuffed bunnies. Tough call.
Do you roll Easter eggs in your family? If not, you really should try it. I don't really know why you would bother dying eggs otherwise. Easter egg rolling is kind of like our own mini spring training. Really helps the kiddo's work in their arms before t-ball/little league starts up. Not that those Myers kids need it. Stay away from the boy in the black. He can really whack you.

Cole spent his eggs trying to hit a dear carcass. He got one lodged right in the skull. And then ran down the hill to retrieve it right out of the carcass. Ewww. The big boys? They are our targets down at the bottom of the hill. I don't know why we call it egg rolling. Very few are rolled. Egg throwing is much more accurate.

Little Ben? He slept through most of it, but did wake up for a bit to check out Grandma's house and give her a couple of his little smiles and to snuggle with Grandpa Clair and Cousin Claire.

Happy Easter Everyone!

Your Easter egg hunts look warmer than ours was..........BUT Nate's mom is planning hers for a couple of weeks later (so his sister and kids can come), so hopefully it is warmer then.

Wow, the "eater bunny" was busy at your place! And, I can completely relate to the psycho parents who stampede through public easter egg hunts for what reason? Ridiculous! Happy easter!
