I love this laugh! I have no idea what is so funny in this video, but I do like to watch them play together. Pretty much all Cole has to do is look at Annie and she cracks up. She just adores him. I guess the feeling is mutual as Cole told me on Friday that he was going to marry Annie in the Logan Temple. I didn't really have a good response, I guess I'll just let him figure out on his own that it doesn't really work that way.

I've been tagged, so here's the scoop on my husband...

1. What is his name? Floyd
2. How long have you been together? Umm - married just over six years, together on and off since high school.
3. How long did you date? Four months here, two months there, a mission in between - I would guess about a year all added up.
4. How old is he? 29
5. Who eats more? Him, unless it's something sweet - I like to joke that I'm like a cow and have a separate stomach for treats.
6. Who said "I love you" first? Me, although he claims he "showed" it first, whatever that means:).
7. Who is taller? Floyd by 8 inches.

8. Who is smarter? Hmm, he would like you to believe that I am, but I'd have to say it's a tie. I'm better at memorizing things, he's better at creating things.
9. Who does the laundry? Usually me, but if he ever notices me cleaning the house and decides to help, that seems to be his chore of choice.
10. Who does the dishes? Me by just a bit.
11. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Me (although he pretty much takes up the whole bed so technically, he sleeps on quite a bit of the right side too).
12. Who pays the bills? He makes the money, but has written maybe two checks our entire married life. So it depends on how you look at it.
13. Who mows the lawn? Both - he won this past summer since I was pregnant, but usually it's about equal. Although he always does the weed eating.
14. Who cooks dinner? Mostly me, he cooks quite a bit on the weekends.
15. Who drives when you are together? Floyd.
16. Who is more stubborn? Floyd. Probably most people would be surprised because he seems so easy going and I'm a bit more intense, but I think he wins by just a bit. He's just really low-key about his stubbornness so it isn't as obvious.
17. Who kissed who first? Floyd kissed me first.
18. Who asked who out first? Floyd asked me out first, it was actually my first date ever. I'd just turned 16 and we went to the 4th of July fireworks.
19. Who proposed? Floyd did - it was on his birthday and we went on a 4-wheeler ride to a lake in the mountains. He had a couple friends waiting secretly on the other side of the lake and when he turned off the lights, they lit off some fireworks and he got down on one knee. It was so cold that we couldn't even kiss afterwards.
20. Who has more siblings? Floyd by one.
21. Who wears the pants in the family? Such a stupid phrase, but I guess it would be me.


Thanks, Floyd, for being a great husband and dad and providing me with lots of laughter. I'm a lucky girl.

a couple funny things...

I am teaching a class at the USU Brigham City campus this semester. It's been awhile since I was actually in a class and not just paying tuition while I write my dissertation, so I was a little nervous to teach. The best moment of class so far came while we were discussing the benefits of breastfeeding (it's a human development class and we were talking about infants, so it wasn't just me being political). I noted that one advantage is that breastfed children have better jaw development because bottle-fed infants are "lazy suckers." Whoops. Sure didn't practice that part of the lecture out loud. It got quite a chuckle. For the record, I was not trying to make any sort of statement about bottle-fed infants' moral character, just that they tend to suck lazily.

On an unrelated note (but also funny), here is a picture of Cole eating breakfast this morning. Annie woke up early and needed an early nap (needed, but sadly did not get), so I was trying to get her to sleep. I came down the stairs and there was Cole, camped out in front of the fridge helping himself. Oh isn't independence great!

Funny little Cole!

Floyd and I were just talking about how funny Cole is, so I thought I'd share a few of his funny moments from this past week, so in no particular order...

#1 - We were talking about something and made the comment that it happened a long time ago and Cole asked, "in oval days?" which confused Floyd and me for a second until we repeated it in our heads and realized he must have meant, "in olden days." Unless there is such a thing as oval days, he is pretty smart, so maybe he's onto something we don't know about.

#2 - For family night this week, our lesson was about making good choices and we said that before we made a choice, we should stop, think about it, ask ourselves what the consequences would be, and then do the right thing. We had him repeat stop, think, and ask a couple of times to get it down. So then I made bean dip for the Utah State game last night and brought it down and said to Cole and Floyd, "I think I will just eat this all by myself." Cole immediately replied, "But mommy, stop, think, and ask."

#3 - Just to bring us back to reality, he also pretended to be sick for the second straight week to get out of church. He actually seems to enjoy primary, and we were definitely ready for him to be out of nursery, but he still resists going. Yesterday, he asked Floyd what day it was and when Floyd said Saturday, he asked if Sunday was the next day. Floyd said yes and there was about a five second pause before he said, "I am starting to feel a little sick."

So that's what made us laugh the last two days. He's always entertaining.

Flashback.....1988

When I was a kid, I really wanted a pogo ball. I never had one, most likely because my mom, who was a pediatric nurse and saw all kinds of childhood injuries, decided it was unsafe (I always thought it was because she was a nurse anyway - now that I have kids, I realize it may have just been being a mom). I mentioned this to Floyd sometime this fall, so Santa brought me an adult-sized pogo ball for Christmas this year. I laughed and felt loved that "Santa" would remember how much I wanted this and figured it would probably not get used too much. But, I jump on it for a couple of minutes almost every day. It is amazing exercise! After 1 or 2 minutes of out-of-control jumping around the house, I am way more winded and worn out than I am after jogging for an hour on the treadmill (okay, 45 minutes, I usually am too bored on the treadmill to last an entire hour). Plus, it makes me use muscles that I don't think I have used since elementary school and requires a lot of balance and coordination...which I don't actually have yet, but maybe this will help me with it. So, if anyone out there is looking for a new exercise to mix into their routine, I suggest you try it out. While you're at it, why not try hula-hooping, jump roping, kick ball, hopscotch....

Annie turns six months old this week (I can't believe it), so she got to try rice cereal for the first time last week. Technically, I guess this isn't her first solid food since her daddy has been sneaking her bites of ice cream for a couple of months. She did pretty good with the rice cereal (especially considering how helpful Cole was), but I think she prefers the ice cream!
