'Til We Meet Again

We said good-bye to Floyd's grandpa last week.  He was a healthy guy most of his life, but his health deteriorated rapidly the last year or two.

He was a great guy.  He had a constant twinkle in his eye (maybe Molly gets it from him).  He was cheerful.  He was generous.  He was kind.  He was spiritual.  He was a hard-worker.  He was good.
We were so lucky to have him lead our family.  A few years ago, he and Floyd built his house together in Cove.  Floyd really cherished that time and learned a lot working with his Grandpa.  I am grateful I had the chance to know him and that my kids did too.  He will always have a special place in our hearts.

I am not good at good-byes.  I was a sniffly mess and not much support for Floyd.  And I scared Ben.  He did not like me crying.  He did not like any part of the funeral or viewing until we got to the cemetery.  He was pretty fascinated by the big hole and how they would cover it and where the tractors were and why he couldn't stay to help.

"In light of what we know about our eternal destiny, is it any wonder that whenever we face the bitter endings of life, they seem unacceptable to us? There seems to be something inside of us that resists endings.
Why is this? Because we are made of the stuff of eternity. We are eternal beings, children of the Almighty God, whose name is Endless and who promises eternal blessings without number. Endings are not our destiny.
The more we learn about the gospel of Jesus Christ, the more we realize that endings here in mortality are not endings at all. They are merely interruptions—temporary pauses that one day will seem small compared to the eternal joy awaiting the faithful.
How grateful I am to my Heavenly Father that in His plan there are no true endings, only everlasting beginnings."
