On Wednesdays, Cole gets out of school early and we have our own little school here at home. When I was little, I used to make my little brother and sister play school with me all the time. Sometimes I wish I had been a teacher....
For our field trips, we try to do something related to our weekly lesson theme. This week, we learned about Columbus. I had a hard time coming up with a field trip. We made cucumber boats and took them to the river to float them down. The kidlets really dug this activity. Loved scooping out the insides of the cucumbers. Loved making flags for the Nina and the Santa Maria (we did not make a Pinta). Loved watching them float down the river.

Sadly, only the Nina made it home with us. The Santa Maria floated right through my fingers, through the storm grate and under the bridge. But don't worry, says Cole, some little boy will find it someday and be so happy for his new toy.
