About 12 years ago, my grandma got an apartment just off Temple Square for her 1-year mission. She is still there. It's been a rather long year. I'd like it if she still lived in the house from my childhood so I could pop in there and feel nostalgia wash over me, but she really likes serving down there. And once a year, it is a really handy jumping off point for visiting the Christmas lights (and actually, it's pretty handy anytime you want to do something downtown). We went with cousins and the rest of the state of Utah to see them one night.
Here's my one attempt at bokeh for the night. I'm a total amateur, but lights are fun.
We visited the fountains, which always necessitates the dramatic retelling of "the year Katie fell in the water fountain." In December. And yes, it was cold. I was old enough to remember (also old enough not to be trying to retrieve money from the fountain).
Here are the cousins minus Ben. There's always at least one doing their own thing.
There he is. I believe he was making snowballs, which is, after all, much more important than a cousin picture.
Savannah and Annie were cooperative in their almost-twins hats. They couldn't quite be twins cause Savannah's hat is a kitty and Grandma Rose knew better than to give my daughter a kitty hat.
And I am a little embarrassed to admit that the my claustrophobia kicked in and prevented us from making our way all the way to the nativity this year. It was just soooooo crowded. Next year we'll go on a Thursday. Maybe that will help.

It has been a very long 12 years. We miss Grandma Donna, too. :( I love the cousins in their matching hats from Grandma Rose. Such cute little kids!
