The Cabin

We spent Labor Day Weekend at the cabin in Island Park - a perfect way to spend a lazy weekend.  We ate.  We fished.  We hiked.  We ate some more.  Floyd fished some more.  And we finished it off with a quick float trip down Box Canyon to Last Chance.  It was lovely.

'Cept for a few minutes on the hike when we were required to cross no fewer than 10 rock fields.  Maybe not quite a beginner hike.  Luckily, Annie and Cole were both surprisingly sure-footed and Mom, with a sleeping Ben in her arms, was careful as could be and made it too.  Few!

There were also a few tense moments when Floyd, who had hiked back to get the car and meet the rest of us a the end of the hike, realized that I had the keys.  But not to worry - I had missed my run that morning, so off I went.

Minnow Lake never disappoints us (that is not it's real name - do not try to find it using that name as you will be thoroughly confused).
Ben was equally thrilled about each fish we pulled out of the lake.
Annie did her part reeling them in, but once she could see the fish, she was out of there.  No slimy fish pictures for this girl.
Wildflower pictures are much more her style.

We had plans for a nice campfire and dinner at the lake, but some rather ominous clouds in the western sky and the roll of thunder put a damper on those plans and sent us hurrying back down the trail to the car while Daddy furiously paddled the canoe back to the dock.

And finally, here is proof that it pays to wake up early to wet your waders.  I myself don't care much for fishing, but would have liked to have seen this:
Thanks, Floyd.  Maybe next time I'll roll myself out of bed with you.
