Splash!

Wonder what we've been up to the past few weeks?  Here's a clule...

We've taken swim lessons at a few different places where we live, but North Shore is the only place that has a class option for Ben and since I don't love wrestling with my 2-year-old on the pool deck, that's where we headed this summer.

It was a good choice.  He has loved swim class.  It's just Ben and one other little girl in his class (it started out just him, but her mom got sick of keeping her out of the water and signed her up after a few days).  They have a lot of fun together and Ben is even a little gentleman and lets her have the first turn on the froggy slide.  Good times.

Annie is the youngest one in her level, which is fine except that the rest of the kids can touch the bottom and she can't.  It scares her a bit, but her teacher is super patient and good to work with her.

She doesn't like putting her face in the water and when I told her I took a picture just before she did, she said, "Hmph...I don't want to remember that," in her best teenager voice.

She does like the splashing though.  I'm pretty sure she'll pass off that skill no problem.

Cole started out in a lower level class that met in the kid pool, but got to move up a class to the real pool, which was good news for him cause he loves - LOVES - the high dive.  Mom was a little scared the first time she saw him head up there, but he's an ace at it and gets to dive off a couple of times at the end of class each day.

I think form comes next year...
He also really likes the breaststroke and is pretty good at it.  I think this is the year we officially declare that he is a better swimmer than Mom.  She can only doggie paddle and has been off the high dive maybe twice in her life.

And to end this post, I'd like to give myself a big congratulations for making it to the pool by 9:10 each day.  Not an easy feat in the summertime.  And bad news for me - school starts next week and it starts and hour earlier.
