Little Surfer Dude

 Dear Baby Boy-

Well, we survived it.  The plane ride, I mean.  Mom was more than a little anxious about sticking you in a confined space where they frown upon climbing and destroying and yelling.  All the things you are really excellent at.  But, you pulled through and we made it.  Wahoo!

I had no doubts about whether or not you'd like the beach.  It was a no brainer and as expected, you loved it.  One of your favorite activities of the trip?  Following Cole around and occupying the holes he diligently dug like a little hermit crab finding a new shell.  It made him crazy a few times, but he just kept on digging and you just kept on following.  That's what brothers are for, right?

There were a few things on the trip you didn't like.  Things like mom trying to take your picture.  Or someone trying to use your "favorite" shovel, and by "favorite," I mean whichever shovel they happened to be playing with.  Or not getting to ride a bike with the big kids.

Ben telling Mommy, "no no," when she tried taking his picture.

A little sad when someone stole a shovel.

Some of my favorite memories of you on the trip?  How content you were playing in the sand.  How you started calling our friends "Papa" and "Baby" since the dad and son have the same name.  How you called the airplanes "boats."  How you loved throwing rocks in the ocean.  How you loved bending over and sticking your head in the sand.  How you pushed Lawson's balance bike around and around since your little legs were just a teensy bit to short to ride it.  How you stayed awake the entire flight home and then fell asleep in my arms as we taxied to the gate in SLC.  How I hardly had to clean up any messes since we were just digging in sand.

Feeding seagulls with Daddy.

Dumping sand on his head.

"Here Mom, have some sand."

I know you probably won't remember anything about this trip when you grow up, but know this: You loved it and we loved having you there.  Even when you insisted on immediately switching to Eastern time and woke up at 6:00 - which is 4:00 our time thankyouverymuch.
